Saturday, October 24, 2009 Memorial Service 9:30am – 10:30am Memorial Church, Harvard Yard We will honor classmates gone but not forgotten. Casual Attire is appropriate for the Memorial Service, as we will be proceeding directly from Memorial Church to the Football Stadium.
Football Game 11:30 – 3:30pm Harvard Stadium, Enter at Gates L or M and turn left, proceed up the stairs Harvard vs. Princeton – Bring the Kids! Kick off is noon. Our private gathering will take place on the second floor mezzanine of the Stadium (yes, there is a mezzanine.....look for the 1979 banner inside the home side of the Stadium all the way to the left, at the open end of the horseshoe). Our event will feature a fantastic BBQ luncheon served by Red Bones, beer & wine, and a ticket to the football game. This space is largely protected from the rain, but not necessarily the cold or the wind, so do dress warmly if it is a cold day. We will have tailgating before, during and after the game from our own private in-stadium “club” with folks going back and forth to their seats as they so desire. We will also have some quiet tables if you prefer to gather with friends and have discussions on a variety of topics. NOTE: You will need your football ticket to enter the Harvard Stadium. If you do not pick up your tickets on Friday night, then please, on Saturday, (see insert) go to the HAA table in front of the Murr Center at 65 North Harvard Street to pick them up.
’79 Octoberfest 6:30pm – Midnight Queen’s Head Pub, Memorial Hall Basement Saturday night’s festivities will begin with cocktails and dinner at 6:30 pm at the new Queen’s Head Pub in Loker Commons. The Queen’s Head Pub, with its collection of Harvard memorabilia, was opened in Spring, 2007 and is now one of the most popular gathering places on campus. The dinner menu will highlight organic locally-grown New England specialties. Following dinner, the class will be treated to dessert and dancing in Annenberg Hall until Midnight. Back in the Pub, classmates will enjoy a jazz set from classmate Joe Reid ’79 and friends, together with Cornelia Ravenal ’79 on vocals for a selection of songs, all in an intimate setting. Other vocalists include Claire Goodman Pellegrini Cloud ’79 and Rusty Cloud. Special comedy appearances by Bill Scheft ’79 and Dwight Fletcher ’79. Sorry, but we can’t accommodate children at this event.
Because of the great response we’ve had, this event may be a bit crowded during the time when people are sitting down to eat. We’ll have a buffet, so if you could be prepared to try to stagger the time of your own dining, and free up your table when you are done eating, it would be a big help. Complimentary parking is available at the 52 Oxford Street garage. The Pub will open to the student community at 11:30pm. |
